A Simple Task...

First off, let me start out by saying this was supposed to be a simple post. Addison is 10 months today and I thought I would take one cute picture of her, post it on the blog, list some things she likes, and ta da, done. It sounds so simple, Right?. . . Boy was I wrong. I thought most of you can probably relate to this scenario, so I thought it would be fun to show you my journey of trying to get this one little picture.

So here's the story. Addison wakes up from her nap. I change her out of her PJ's and into her outfit for the day. Since I want to take her picture, I put on her baby bling headband. (First off Addison doesn't really like to wear headbands anymore and always pulls them off. If I ever want her to wear one I end up putting it back on her at least 5 times, until I just give up and she doesn't wear it. Yes, even after this knowledge I still attempt to put it on in hopes that she will wear it.(Again, Wishful thinking.) Here are some pics of her taking off the headband.

As you can see there is no way she is going to wear it.

After finally giving up on Addison wearing her headband, I again start to proceed with trying to get that perfect shot. Of course Addison is not cooperating. (At least what I consider cooperating, Addison is just wanting to explore.) I sit her down and before I can grab the camera she is off. I then decide to just let her go where she wants, assuming that she will eventually stop somewhere and then I can quickly take her picture. So here is where she stopped.

At her car seat. Why? you ask.

Because she loves playing with the button that clasps the straps in.

After trying to distract her to stop playing with her car seat, she finally crawls away to find her toy keys. I will admit it was cute watching her play with those keys. They make noise when you move them. Addison would swing them around and then start to laugh.

Now after all of the crawling around, playing with her car seat, playing with the keys ( and many more obstacles that I didn't write about) She finally looks over at me with the biggest smile. SNAP, I take the picture and that was it, I was finished. So here it is.

Our little sweetheart, 10 months today.

I'm not quite sure how long I followed her around trying to take her picture. I lost track of time after 30 minutes. I did enjoy watching her crawl all around, stopping to play with toys, and watching her be her funny crazy self. I do have to say thanks to digital cameras for making this photo shoot so memorable, being able to delete all the 50 pictures of Addison turning her head away, being able to view them to know that I didn't get the picture I wanted, and being able to immediately download them instead of having to wait to get them developed.

So Dang Cute!!

Where is Addison?

There she is!!!

Addison LOVES playing Peek-a-Boo. Last week I went to get Addison from her crib after a good nights rest. As you all know she loves being in her crib. When I went in there she was just hanging out, and I could tell she wasn't ready for me to pick her up. She had picked up her blanket and pulled it over her face. And then pulled it back down. She did it a couple of times. I thought is was so cute that she was playing peek a boo with me. I thought it was just a fluke until she was downstairs the next day and found another blanket and did it again. It is hilarious to watch her. She will grab the blanket and pull it up over her face, and then as soon as you say, "Where's Addison?" She will pull it down, and you will see the biggest smile ever. It is so adorable that we just had to share it with everyone. Tim and I just can't get enough of her!

Weekend Fun

Friday night we met Tim's family in Layton for Dinner. Tim's grandparents were here visiting from California, and we were excited to get together with everyone and visit. Can you believe that of all the picture taker's in Tim's family, that no one had a camera?! With or without a photo, we had a great time seeing and visiting with you, Poppa and Shirley. We hope you have a great time at Dale and Margaret's.

Saturday. . . our usual routine, wake up, have breakfast. Then around 8:30- 9:00 Tim will go outside and weed and mow the lawn. Our afternoons are usually up in the air. Huge Shock though when Tim asked me if I wanted to go shopping. What?. . . . Do you really need to ask? OF COURSE I do!!! Little to my surprise it was because Tim wanted to get some new jeans. Oh well, any chance I can get to go shopping I will take it. I ended the night with our monthly Bounty Cove GNO. For the last two months we have gone to a movie. We go to movies that we know our husbands don't want to see. For example Tim had asked what movie we were going to see. After I told him he said, "Why don't you guys ever go to a good movie?" So you see it's a win win situation. Right?. . . I mean, I think we are actually doing them a favor by not making them take us, and make them have to sit through a chick flick. This month we went and saw Becoming Jane. I loved it!! It was a great flick, and I highly recommend it. After seeing it we all agreed that we wanted to go home and watch Pride and Prejudice. (Oh how I love that movie, yes the 6 hour one!) Well it was a great way to end the weekend. Thanks to all our great Husbands who stayed home and watched the kids while we went out.

Best Game EVER!!

Sequence is the best game EVER, Hands down!! We seriously LOVE this game and will play it any chance we get. For instance, we love squeezing in a few games right after church or before the kids go to bed with our friends the Mabeys' and the Bacons'. So you might be wondering why we love this game so much. Well here are my top ten reasons why I love it, and why I love playing it with Tim.

10-You can play this game with only two people.

9- It is fast and easy to set up and clean up.

8- You don't have to concentrate real hard, unless you have a child on your lap trying to grab all your cards and chips.

7- The game moves really fast- unless you play with Tim. So if you are ever confused on who's turn it is, you can just assume it's Tim's because he is never ready.

6- Tim will try to cheat, but we always catch him.

5-You can rotate teammates and keep a scorecard to see who really is the best player/partner. (thanks Chad and Amy for the great idea) You can also put an asterisk next to someones win, if you feel like it wasn't really deserved.

4-If you do something really funny or memorable, it will go down in sequence lore, and be retold every time we get together and play. (e.g., Amy putting down a chip and saying sequence when there really isn't a sequence, or Jon telling a story when it's his turn and removing a chip that didn't need to be removed, and one of our most favorite memorable things said is by our friend Ed. I need to give the background first. After several games, Tim and Ed finally won one. Ed went to the bathroom and when he came out he said, " Wow Tim that felt good!" We all busted out laughing. He meant that it finally felt good to win a game.

3- As you are waiting for your turn, you can tap the chips on the table so it will roll away and then roll back to you. Except if you are at the Mabey's house. Chad will say, "DON'T DO THAT."

2-If you ask Tim if you are playing with him he will say, "If you want to win you are!"

1- And last is if Tim happens to loose every game but the last one it never fails to hear him say at the end of the night, " It looks like I'm still undefeated!"

If you don't have this game I suggest you get it. If you have it and don't play it then break it out. Or let me know if you happen to just love this game too. We love games and are always up for new suggestions, so let me know what your favorite game is.

If you won't put me to bed then I will!

So Addison's bedtime is usually right around 8:00. Tim has been in Atlanta for work since Monday and was getting home tonight. His plane was supposed to arrive at 6:20, which then I am thinking he will be home oh the latest 7:30. So 7:30 comes around and no Tim. I tried to call his cell phone but it was still turned off. So I got on the computer to check his flight and sure enough his flight was delayed and didn't take off until after 5. It showed his flight would be arriving at 7:40. So by this time Addison is starting to get tired. I am trying really hard to keep her up for her dad, I know she will be so excited to see him, and I know Tim really missed her and wants to see her too. So now it's after eight and I am trying to keep her happy. She is crawling everywhere. Her new thing is to climb over to our stairs and pull herself up on the side of the steps and walk holding on to each step. Next thing I know she has crawled over to find the front of the stairs. My parents had asked me if Addison was climbing stairs yet. I hadn't even thought about it. I wondered if she would even know what to do? So the other day I had put her in the middle of the stairs her soothie on the next step (she thinks her soothie is a toy not a Binky) and she started to climb up the rest of the stairs trying to get her soothie. Since then, she hasn't ever really been interested in going over to the front part of the stairs until tonight. So there she was sitting in front of the stairs. Next thing I know she is going for it. So of course before she started to climb I was already right behind her. I followed her as she climbed each step all the way to her room. It was so funny. I couldn't believe it. I felt like she was trying to tell me that she was tired and if I wasn't going to put her to bed then she would. But even after that and with all the eye rubbings, I still kept her up.

She was excited to see her dad she forgot how tired she was and didn't go to bed until 9:30. All she wanted to do was to play and hang out with him.
I am so happy to have Tim home. We missed him so much. I especially felt bad for Addison. I think she was starting to get bored with me by the end of the day. Tim is such a great dad and always plays with Addison when he gets home. I love watching them play together. They have that sweet daddy daughter relationship, that I see with a lot of dads and their daughters.

Sorry for the long story. I would have tried to shorten it, but I don't think short and stories can go in the same sentence for me!

Crib or Jungle Jim?

So I peeked in on Addison to see if she was awake or still asleep. If she's awake then I usually find her just sitting in the middle of her crib or standing up holding the rail, waiting quietly for me to come and get her. I don't think she realizes that if she fusses or makes noises we will come in and get her. Or after today maybe it's the fact that she just really loves being in her crib.

Well this is how I found her today. It was so cute. Of course I couldn't get the picture of what she looked like when I first peeked in. It was similar to this one but her head was just resting on the rail. It was so sweet, until I started to feel bad thinking maybe she was tired of standing there waiting for me to come and get her.

Addison loves to stand and she now loves to stand on her bumpers, which makes Tim and me a little nervous. But today she was standing on the bumper and she fell down, my initial reaction was is she okay? But then she laid there and started to laugh. She got right back up stood on her bumper pad smiling the whole time and fell down again and started laughing. She thought that was the best thing ever. She cracks me up. Here are the before and after pics.

A Birthday Tradition

For as long as I can remember my mom has always given my grandma flowers on my moms birthday. I remember when I was a little girl going into the flower shop with my mom and helping her pick out some flowers for my grandma. I remember asking her why she was buying flowers for my grandma on her own birthday. I was to young to really understand the reason. It wasn't until I was older that I fully understood, and that is when I started the same tradition for my mom.

Today is my birthday and I love the tradition that my mom started that I have followed now for many years. I went and dropped off a vase of flowers to her today. I love my mom so much. She is such a sweet, kind, caring person. She is one of my best friends. I feel so blessed to have been adopted into such a wonderful family. I have such great parents and I want to thank them for all that they do for me, Tim and Addison.

Thanks to everyone that helped make this day so great. I appreciate all the phones calls, and emails. I am especially thankful to my husband who got off work early so he could spend the rest of the day with me.

A trip to the Gardens

Saturday we decided to go to the Gardens at Thanksgiving Point. We hadn't been to the Gardens since the Tulip Festival. We were so amazed at how beautiful it is was there. The flowers are so pretty and colorful right now. If you haven't been there for a while I definitely think you should go. There are lots of great places to take pictures, especially with your kids. We are planning to go back again soon. We didn't spend as much time there as we wanted because it was so dang hot. Yeah, going to the gardens at 1:00 wasn't the smartest thing to do. I wouldn't recommend it.

See ya later!
(I think this picture is cute of Addison
because it looks like she is waving.)

We've been Simpsonized!

I thought this was so hilarious. I was seriously dying after I made Tim. I mean I don't think it could get any closer than this. It was kinda hard to make Addison's, but I couldn't leave her out.

If you haven't been Simpsonized yet, go to this website and see what you would look like as a Simpson character. http://simpsonizeme.com/

Pictures of Addison

Since we didn't start our blog until Addison was 9 months old. We had some requests from our family and friends that don't live here, to post some pictures of Addison. It was really hard to pick just one photo for each month, since we have so many dang cute pictures of her. I tried to pick a good variety. So here you go, I hope you enjoy them.
